Shared insights of Ecosystemic Perspectives, Neuroscience and Psychology – A critical meeting of the BCSSS Research Group “Systems Medicine and Healthcare Systems”
Prof. Dr.Dr.Dr. Felix Tretter, leader of the BCSSS Research Group “Systems Medicine and Healthcare Systems”, invited to two meetings on the subject of “Ecosystemic Perspectives
in Psychology”.
On two days in November 2017 the group discussed from an (Eco)Systemic point of view various disciplines of Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, Clinical Psychology and New Phenomenology, invited experts enriched the meetings:
After an introduction by Felix Tretter the first workshop welcomed Günter Schiepek,
Head of the Institute for Synergetics and Psychotherapy Research, Paracelsus Medical
Private University, Salzburg. Schiepek talked about the Synergetic Navigation System (SNS),
an ambulatory and real-time monitoring system which provides outcome- and especially
process-assessment, with integrated mathematical tools for the analysis of non-linear and
non-stationary time series. In the field of Psychotherapy Research SNS is applied to
internet-based technologies for the monitoring of psychotherapy processes.
Assoc. Prof. Priv.- Doz. Dr. Henriette Löffler-Stastka, Medical Specialist in Psychiatry and Psychotherapeutic Medicine and Psychoanalyst at the Medical University Vienna, described
her psychoanalytical perspective on the subject.
Ao. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Thomas Stompe, Medical Specialist in Psychiatry and Neurology at the Medical University Vienna represented the field of Psychopathology.
For the second meeting the group succeeded in recruiting one of the most creative researchers
in the disciplines of Phenomenology, Psychopathology and Theory of Neuroscience, Thomas Fuchs. Fuchs is Assoc. Professor of Psychiatry at the Center of Psychosocial Medicine
of the University of Heidelberg. In his lecture he focused on three subjects with a subsequent dialogue with the BCSSS research group and its guests on connections to the Systems Sciences: “The embodied, embedded, enactive self”, “The Brain”, “The patient as embedded subject in Psychotherapy”.
Please find Thomas Fuchs’ article “The Brain – A Mediating Organ” here.
We are very glad about that initial start for research focussing on an interdisciplinary exchange between the various fields of Systems Science, Medicine, Psychology and Health Care, encouraged by our colleague Felix Tretter. We look forward future activities!
